Day 7 In Berkeley… Still Kinda…

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

Again after coffee at Geurilla Cafe, and laundry, we bebopped out to San Francisco. We hopped on the “F” streetcar and here in front of the Market Street Cinema (Link NSFW) which should be spelled sin-ema apparently. I guess we will review that on another trip. ;-)
Pictures coming soon…

Then we were on our way to the Castro District. they even seem to have their own community website. We wandered about, in what would soon become rain. Got some local shots.
Pictures coming soon…

Stopped in at the HRC shop along Castro, yes even I needed a warm layer, to go with my shorts and t-shirt. I wanted to get something that had Castro on it anyway.
We stopped at Nirvana on Castro, a Vegan friendly place. I had a marvelous dish called Braised Peppercorn it was fantabulous. The starter we split was called Bodius Lettuce Cups, it was a Lettuce Wrap but a little spicey for Steve so I got most of it, Yahoo!!! Sorry Steve. We also split a Mango Mai Tai also fabulous.
Pictures coming soon.

We hopped back on the “F” headed for the Civic Center BART station that had disgorged us here in SF. For the light rail ride back to Berkeley, we should get one of these. One that goes more then a mile or three.
Pictures coming soon.

I am extremely VERY VERY backed up on photos, I will get them up over the weekend. Dog willing of course.

Day 4 in the Berkeley Area…

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Well today was a light day. A bright sun shine filled day. We had a late start and headed out for coffee from Guerilla Cafe in Berkeley.

We then hopped on the AC Transit #9, that takes you out to the Berkeley Marina and a rather long pier. I had a dog at the Eat and Run down at the start of the pier.

Hopping back on the #9 and jumping off for lunch at the Lane Splitter Pub & Pizza also in Berkeley. We had a marvelous Vegan Pizza with a vegan ricotta cheese that they make themselves and some good brews.

I found out looking at the site that some of the buses that AC Transit uses are Hydrogen, three of them at this writing. Also I mentioned the ZAP Zebra, ZAP is the original importer and Americanizer of the SMART Car, from Daimler Chrysler. ZAP distributes a number of high efficiency and zero emission vehicles. And back home I-5 Motors in Fife handle the ZAP cars last I checked. Check them out.

Day 3 in the Berkeley area…

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

This was a dismal morning, raining quite a bit for this area. We stayed in mostly, Steve did laundry while I futzed with an issue on my blog.

We ended up running out to Alameda to a bank to do some emergency banking. That is the closest ATM I could deposit at about 9 miles away. Took a long time by bus going out there. While in Alameda I saw a Zebra in the wild. After missing one on the move I managed to get this pic of a Zebra lazing on the side of the street near O’Connell Electric Vehicles.

We hopped on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) coming back and made much better time. We hopped off at the Ashby station and wandered over to the Berkeley farmers market for Flaco’s Unique Vegatarian Mexican Food. The market moves each of the 3 days during the week, apparently these guys are at all three now.

Our second full day in Berkeley…

Monday, March 19th, 2007

We started out kind of late. We took a short trip for cash and some coffee at Berkely Espresso. This morning we saw a Jedi Master mailbox and I finally got a shot of one of these red squirrels I have been seeing here.

Then we headed of to Takara Sake Tasting Room and Museum. This was wonderful and the women they have selling this stuff are pros. They wangled almost $100 with shipping home from me. Steve got hit for even more. They are really good at what they do.

Here are the babies. We have Beta on the left and Alpha on the right. I just can’t figure out if they want to help pack or go along for the trip.

As I write this we are in Berkeley, CA. after an uneventful plane ride and shuttle ride.

And finally the last of day ten of our odyssey.
